We have clients all over the country. But our office in Geelong is where we keep up with the wonderful world of Google and websites. In the last two years we have moved exclusively to working with WordPress to build websites. And we must say, it has been a good move and today we’d like to explain the main reasons why.
Ok, let us go back a step for those who aren’t sure what a WordPress website is. Sometimes we get caught up in our own web-geek-speak and not everyone understands (sorry). A WordPress website is simply a website which has been built using WordPress software. There are four main reasons why we use WordPress to build websites: it’s Google-friendly, user-friendly, we’re able to custom design responsive websites using it and it’s open source. We’ll explain what those things mean in a moment, but for now, take a look at these stats:
409 million people visit WordPress websites each month.
These people view more than 15.5 billion pages per month.
WordPress users publish about 41.7 million new posts.
And, WordPress powers 23% of the Internet (that’s a lot, in case you’re wondering).
It’s Google-friendly.
This means WordPress is optimised for Google search. Google loves WordPress websites (almost) as much as we do! The code behind WordPress is “clean” which means it is read more easily than the often complex code behind other web development software.
It’s user-friendly.
We believe you should be able to update the content on your business website at your leisure, this includes your business’s contact information and news articles or blog posts. As such, we love WordPress because it’s super intuitive, making adding and editing content as easy as it possibly can be. We provide training to teach you and/or your staff how to manage your website yourselves.
It’s flexible.
Every website is built using a “theme”. So when people ask us if we use themes, technically yes we do. However, we custom-build our themes from scratch, so in that regard you can be assured we don’t use the templatey-themes you’re probably thinking of. We custom design and then custom build each theme. WordPress is also able to be made responsive, which means the design will adapt to the size of the screen the user has for optimal viewing. We love WordPress because it allows us to do this with total flexibility and control.
It’s an open source platform.
Web developers from around the world are constantly working on WordPress to improve its available features and security. This is great for our customers because our developers can tap into a world of information and resources which ultimately means better working websites for you.
As your WordPress website developer in Geelong, we’d be more than happy to answer your questions. Obviously this post details why we love the platform, but there’s so much more it can do as well! Why don’t you contact us for a chat today? And don’t forget, Google’s April 21 deadline for non-responsive websites is coming. If your website isn’t responsive by this date it might be penalised in Google’s mobile search results. So now is the perfect time to upgrade your website or get a new one.
