Online marketing: Too friggen’ hard?
Here at GOOP we are great believers that online marketing doesn’t have to be “too friggen’ hard!”
While we understand and acknowledge the time constraints small to medium-sized businesses face, we can’t stress the importance of having an online marketing strategy enough. When you run a business clients come first, but making time to market your own business is important too.
Last night we held an event at the divine Boom Gallery as part of the Geelong Small Business Festival, which is part of the wider Victorian Small Business Festival. GOOP Managing Director Karl Morris presented “Online marketing: Too friggen’ hard?”, explaining the core components of any good online marketing strategy. There are five tools we recommend, in order of importance:
- Website – this is your asset and you own it. A website that works acts as a Google trap directing traffic to your website, and then once there compels users to take desired action.
- Blog – this function should be installed on your website and used to market your products and services. Effective for boosting your Google rankings (strengthening your website as a “Google trap”).
- eNewsletters – influence purchase decisions by staying front and centre in the minds of your existing clients.
- Social media – for brand awareness, engaging with your clients and marketing your products and services.
- YouTube – videos build trust and credibility and can influence purchase decisions. As a Google product YouTube is an effective tool in boosting your Google rankings.
If you’re falling down at step one you shouldn’t be focusing on steps two, three, four or five. Master each step before incorporating the next.
We’d like to thank all guests, including representatives from Enterprise Geelong, for attending our event. We trust you all took away at least one piece of advice to help kick-start your online marketing journey. We warmly welcome anyone who wants to discuss online marketing to contact us. Based in Geelong, we build websites that work and provide a suite of online marketing services for small businesses.
