Wondering which website plan is right for you? If you want a website that works, we reckon the answer’s obvious
We had a bit of spare time and a chance to take in a spot of free-to-air commercial television over the Labour Day long weekend and, confirming that I am turning into my father, have to say there was not much to watch on the idiot box. Perhaps the only things on the screen that really captured my attention and got me thinking were the ads promoting the opportunity to build a GoDaddy website in under an hour or to build a Squarespace website while sitting in the desert in front of a campfire.
It wasn’t the advertisements’ stars – one an Aussie soap opera icon spruiking his Ray’s Flamin’ Hot Sauce website, and the other who’s gone from making Hollywood blockbusters to making motorcycles – which sparked my interest. Rather it was the concept of building a website in under an hour or while reflecting in front of a campfire in the desert that got me thinking.

As far as GOOP Digital’s concerned, a website is not something to rush through or a task to tackle without careful planning and execution.
The GOOP Digital management team tracks the time it takes to build each of our search engine-optimised websites and on average even the most straightforward site takes at least 100 hours, from planning and research, copywriting and design and then development. It’s a major exercise involving a team of people who spend most of the time when they’re not building websites researching how to build and improve websites so they stand out in Google searches.
And once our sites are live, we then monitor their performance and report on their prominence in Google searches. We guarantee that not only do our websites look great, then also perform exceptionally well.
Now don’t get me wrong! Go Daddy and Squarespace websites – and the packages available through numerous other website builders – can create attractive and informative websites, although those websites will be only as attractive and informative as the images and content the creators put into the sites.
But where those digital equivalents to fast food stores really fall short is search engine optimisation and Google prominence.
It’s the GOOP Digital search engine optimisation treatment, attention to detail and careful planning and implementation that ensure our websites stands out for Google searches of what our clients do, where they do it. It’s what separates a one-hour website from a 100-hour website. That and the fact that we guarantee our websites will benefit clients by gaining prominence in Google searches for what clients do, where they do it. After all, there’s not much use having the most beautiful website in the world if nobody can find it online.
So, ask yourself: Do you want a website that takes less than an hour to build, or perhaps one that’s based on weird desert campfire ideas?
Or do you want a website that has had 100 hours’ considered research and attention from a team of professionals, a commitment to stand out in Google searches for what you do, where you do it, and regular reports on the website’s performance and prominence in Google?
If you’re after the former, then build a Squarespace or GoDaddy website. Chances are you’ll end up with a good-looking website, just like Ray’s Flamin’ Hot Sauce, although how it will stand out in Google searches is anybody’s guess.
But if you want the latter, and all the flow-on business benefits that come with Google prominence, then you’ll need a GOOP Digital website. Just contact GOOP Digital and you’ll be on the journey to online prominence.
And no matter which you choose, here’s a piece of advice that’ll serve you well: Keep away from free-to-air commercial TV and advertisements that suggest using a laptop computer in the desert. Sand and a laptop? That can only end badly!
