What’s happening
An important Google update is coming
Google is gearing up to mess with all of us in August. Unverified and inactive Google My Business listings (commonly referred to as Google maps) will be removed from Google altogether in a bid to tidy up duplicate and out-of-date listings. We have already started helping clients claim, verify and effectively manage their Google My Business listings prior to this update. We will be providing more information and reminders throughout July, but please be aware of this and take action as early as possible.
GOOP office now showcasing local artwork
It is with great pleasure we are showcasing art work around the office by Kathy Colverson Hyland, GOOP’s first guest artist! Kathy is based at Ocean Grove on Victoria’s iconic Surf Coast and started painting after graduating from Box Hill Institute with a Diploma in Visual Art. With more than 20 exhibitions to her name and work in collections throughout Australia and overseas, Kathy continues to work with a variety of art media and is continually experimenting and developing her techniques. In 2014 she was the resident artist at an international school in Singapore. Kathy has turned her hand to illustration with the publication of a children’s book and more recently has been working in printmaking while continuing to studying art and working on a double degree in Fine Art and Visual Culture through Curtin University.
GOOP office warming – welcoming the new kids on the block (us!)
June saw us finally throw a bit of an office warming! We invited our Rutland Street neighbours into our revamped space for drinks and nibbles to give us an opportunity to officially meet our neighbours in the surrounding offices, catch up and relax (yes, it was a Friday night!). Thanks to those who came and helped us celebrate our new space.
New training space
A huge thank you to Kylie Sargent, interior designer in Geelong, for helping source this wonderful WoodSpoke table for our new training area. The table is made using recycled timber and stools have just arrived. We look forward to training clients in this dedicated training area!

New – Lorne Arts Festival
The Lorne Arts Festival will be held on the last Friday, Saturday and Sunday in August, showcasing a range of talents in the performing arts industry. The program covers caberet, circus, comedy, dance, film, music, visual arts and more, catering for adults and children. This unique festival is made even more special being held in the picturesque seaside town of Lorne.
The Lorne Business & Tourism Association Inc. engaged GOOP to custom-design and build a new WordPress website which works optimally on all devices. The client provided cracking images, including the one on the home page which absolutely pops. See our other Lorne websites in our portfolio.
Upgraded – Sportscare
Sportscare has three physio clinic locations on the Sunshine Coast, Warana, Caloundra and Kawana. Each clinic provides physiotherapy treatments for a variety of concerns, especially sports injuries and sports care for athletes. Acupuncture, Pilates and hydrotherapy are also available, among other services.
As an existing GOOP client we upgraded its website to a custom-responsive design, with migration to WordPress. The site features a variety of website extras, including blog categories, blog authorship, video integration and email marketing integration. The Sportscare staff are dedicated to educating and informing their audience by blogging effectively and using social media and videos to promote content.
Client benefits
You’re so lucky to have us – we’re always looking out for you. We keep our eyes on the Google horizon and shout from the rooftops when we hear whispers of updates. And there’s one coming. August has been flagged as a ‘tidy up’ month for Google, which could see your business’s Google map disappear if you haven’t taken care of it. We’ll be explaining how throughout July. Please heed this information and contact us for questions!
