Unless you’re a skilled copywriter and an SEO specialist you’re probably going to have to pay for online success. I can argue that paid advertising channels are the most measurable and effective forms of advertising till the cows come home – but your initial investment shouldn’t be in the form of paid ads.

Incorporating organic SEO into your website has to be your focus.

Boosting organic SEO will create opportunities to build long-term customer relationships, deliver relevant traffic and ultimately increase ROI.

While paid ads and social media might generate traffic, they are not as engaging or effective in delivering high-quality and relevant traffic. The bounce rates are often high and the number of pages visited very low.

Organic traffic is a completely different beast. Organic is what people are looking for, while paid advertising pushes ads almost arrogantly in front of people who may not even be seeking your services.

Organic results will sustain you during those times when you’ve dried up your paid budget or simply can’t run ads anymore.

Organic listings are much more legitimate to searchers

Why not run a search on Google and see what you think? Open a new tab and give it a go. Try a search like “electrician Melbourne”, the first few results are going to be tagged as an ‘ad’ (this is advertisers paying Google for keywords).

Of course people do click on these ads, otherwise AdWords wouldn’t bring in 95% of Google’s revenue.

But because these paid results are clearly labelled as ads, many people (myself included) skip right over them and go to the first organic listing. Why? Because organic search results are likelier to offer the value I’m looking for.

Organic SEO is marketing that doesn’t feel like marketing and that’s why it’s so effective. If you want a website that markets itself then you need to talk to our team at GOOP Digital.
