Why are there so few local electricians appearing in the Google listings?

What an interesting time it is in South Australia at the moment. With the state’s power grid becoming a national political football under the current heatwave there are some great online opportunities for electricians, with particular reference to the Tesla Powerwall.

A quick search on Google for ‘Tesla Powerwall Adelaide’ delivers some interesting results and provides some good examples of websites built to rank in Google and online marketing.

Organic rankings in Google

Adelaide Solar Systems wins the prize for the number one ranking in Google (I’d like to see their Google Analytics as I believe they will be struggling to keep up with the phone calls at the moment). It is not until position number 8 in Google that another local South Australian-only provider ranks in these listings.  National solar energy providers Iconic Energy and Natural Solar  rank in the Google organic listings in positions three and five respectively. The two businesses actively targeting these keywords in Google Adwords (the paid spots at the top and bottom of the page) again are both national businesses, with Natural Solar winning the prize here.

As a local “sparky” or electrician this means there is an enormous opportunity to capitalise on incredibly cost-effective digital marketing tools to promote your business first and foremost for Tesla Powerwall or other similar solar energy products.

First things first. Get a website built to your core products and services by a web developer that understands how to get your website ranking on the first page of the Google results for the products and services you provide in your nominated region, for example ‘Tesla Powerwall Adelaide’, ‘Tesla Powerwall Glenelg’ or maybe ‘Tesla Powerwall Norwood’

Google Adwords

If you don’t have a half-decent website then there is an opportunity to jump onto Google Adwords. This is a fast and effective way to capitalise on a short-term or long-term opportunity, in this case taking advantage of the power outages during the heatwave. National marketing businesses are the only two advertisers taking advantage of Google Adwords here: Natural Solar and Energy Australia.
