Most websites should do two core things:

1. Be a Google trap

This means your website is highly visible in Google’s search results for agreed upon combinations of keywords and geographic locations. Dedicated product and service pages, a user-friendly website design, SEO copy, meta data and more contributes to your site being an effective Google trap. More traffic to your site means more enquiries and more sales.

2. Compel users to take desired action

Once users find your site in Google because it ranks highly for product and/or service keywords they have searched for in their location, the site then needs to compel the user to take desired action. The website’s design, layout and content guides the user to take a desired action. Desired actions could include picking up the phone, visiting your showroom, sending an email enquiry, purchasing products online or whatever it is you want the user to do.

Strategy/site planning

Our site planner will work with you to produce a carefully planned brief for our web designers, SEO copywriters and web developers which describes exactly how you need your website to look, feel and work. Part of the strategy is keyword research and planning the layout of your website to ensure all your products and services are mentioned and to cover off your core offerings for SEO. This step ensures the structural integrity of your website and a harmonious result.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO is the process of boosting a website’s organic – unpaid – visibility in search engines. This process includes ensuring the layout of the website is user friendly with dedicated product and/or service pages, adding SEO components to the back-end of the site such as meta data and writing content using specific keywords combined with your target location. Copywriting involves writing content for marketing and advertising purposes which all websites – as online marketing tools – require. We believe the copy on your website should tell a story about who you are, what you do, where and why you do it.

We use the information you provide in your Website Order Form to write about your business, products and services. We produce unique and compelling content to portray the most important aspects of your business and encourage the user to take desired action, i.e. contact you, find your address and visit your office, shop or showroom, buy your products online or whatever action you most desire the user to take. Our copywriters are trained in SEO copywriting.

Web design

When you choose to build a small business website with GOOP, design is included. You do not have to go elsewhere to get a website design or pay extra. Our web designers represent your business visually with a focus on functionality and user-friendliness. They take your logo and use this along with the information you provide in your Website Order Form to create a custom design that reflects your brand and appeals to your target audience. A core component of web design is ensuring users can find the information they need and then compelling them to take desired action. Desired action could include picking up the phone, sending an email enquiry or buying products online. GOOP web designers are also experienced in responsive web design which means a website that adapts to the screen the user is viewing, including mobile phones, tablets and desktops. GOOP does not use themes to build websites.

Galleries and YouTube

If you supply us with quality images or a YouTube clip relevant to your business, we can add them to your website.

Galleries: A gallery of images can feature on any page of your website to portray who you are, what you do and where you do it. Galleries can contain a number of images and should not to be confused with carousels, an image display format which has a low click-through rate. Image galleries add interest and credibility to your website and can compel users to engage your products/services if they like what they see. When images are tagged with Google-friendly text and include captions they can also boost your Google rankings.

YouTube: Being a Google product, embedding YouTube videos about your business on your website helps boost your Google rankings. Videos are also useful to introduce staff, demonstrate products or services or add credible testimonials to your website. Videos establish trust and can convince users that you are the right person/business they need.

Google submission

Submitting your website to Google tells the search engine that you are online and ready for action! It’s an important part of the web development process as it helps with SEO. Once your website is submitted, Google bots, which are specialised software, will be able to identify and index the content on your website’s pages so it can be found in search results.

Google My Business listing

When people want to find their way they often turn to Google Maps. Your businesses address as shown in Maps is managed in your Google My Business account. Along with the Yellow Pages, street directories have faded into obscurity since the advent of Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) devices and smartphones. Google is the main search engine and because we want you to rank in Google, we use its products as much as possible. If you have a Google My Business listing it is standard practice for us to install the map on your website.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics (GA) is a Google product that generates detailed statistics about a website’s traffic, traffic sources and measures conversions and sales. It is the most widely used website statistics service. We add GA to GOOP websites as a standard feature, allowing you to track and measure the success of your website. We provide full administrative access to our clients.

Keyword reporting

We provide clients with detailed keyword reports about how their website is performing in terms of ranking in Google for specific keywords and locations. These reports empower clients to make decisions about their online marketing strategy to help them boost their rankings.


All GOOP websites include a blogging function. A small business blog is essentially a page on your website which enables you to publish individual posts, or stories, which appear in reverse chronological order.

Blogging on your website is important for SEO and marketing purposes. Using targeted keywords with your location in a blog post with high-quality, relevant content, helps boost your visibility in Google. You can add and edit posts at your leisure, and we strongly recommend clients include blogging as part of their online marketing strategy. Blog posts archive over time and remain on your website forever so you never lose the SEO benefits.

Custom and responsive websites

We offer two options:

  1. custom websites
  2. custom responsive websites.

A custom website works best on a “regular” screen size such a desktop computer. We take your company’s logo and branding and use these to create a custom design for your website, which our web developers will use to build your website. While Internet users can certainly view a custom-designed website on other screen sizes, the user might need to scroll and zoom to comfortably read all the text and view images.

A responsive website is also custom designed, but one that works on different screen sizes – smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. This requires more development time as our web developers have to build and test the design and make it work across different screens. This has become the standard in web design as we know there is no longer such thing as a “regular” screen size.

Website hosting: All websites need to be physically hosted on a server, which basically provides a “home” for your website so it can be seen by Internet users. Hosting services and servers are not all created equal… GOOP hosting doesn’t just provide a home for your website, it also includes important maintenance features such as security updates, Content Management System (CMS) updates, backups and more. GOOP websites are hosted on dedicated servers in a state-of-the-art facility in Australia, which means upgrades are scheduled outside regular business hours to reduce downtime and ensure uninterrupted service.

Domain managementYour domain name is your website’s address – i.e. www.goop.com.au – and should reflect your business name or what it is you do. As part of your GOOP website we will register one domain name for you, unless you have already registered your domain name. We will register your domain with a .com or .com.au extension – generally we will register a .com.au because this identifies you as an Australian business, which is beneficial for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) if you are targeting Internet users in Australia.

Hosting emails: If GOOP hosts your domain (i.e. www.goop.com.au), we can also host your domain email addresses (i.e. info@goop.com.au). We support Post Office Protocol (POP3) email accounts because they are simple to use and well supported. If you wish to, or require, a different type of email set-up, we can recommend an Information Technology (IT) company to help you.
