It’s hard to believe that Christmas is once again just around the corner! This year seems to be flying for us here at GOOP, and the next month will be no exception. Most businesses, and people, will no doubt be looking forward to some much-deserved downtime over the holidays. However – it’s super important to make sure you don’t forget your customers in the rush.

Whether your business picks up over the holidays, or you shut down for a week, let your customers know what’s happening. It’s really simple for our GOOP customers to log in to your WordPress site and update your contact information, including business hours and shipping or delivery information over the festive season. It might seem like a small thing, but it makes a difference to your customers and shows you’re thinking about them.

Social media offers a great way for you to interact with your customers, staying top of mind throughout the busy period. No matter whether you’re a retailer or trade – or service-based business – add a personal touch with fun Christmas messaging, but be sure to stay on-brand for best effect. Leverage social traffic by posting about popular products, gift guides or stocking-fillers to drive people to your website. You should also be cross-promoting any updates to your website, including holiday trading hours and blog content.

If you think it sounds like too much work, don’t worry – Facebook lets you schedule posts, so you can set them up before the break and take time out to relax.

What’s happening

The month of November saw quite a few dubious-looking moustaches sprouting up. But it was all for a wonderful cause, with the guys participating in Movember to raise awareness of men’s health. In particular, poor mental health, prostate cancer, testicular cancer and physical inactivity have been identified as the largest health issues men face.

GOOP's Karl Morris taking part in Movember

The GOOP men participated in Movember, raising awareness and a total of $410 to help change the face of men’s health. The fundraising page is still active and there’s still time to donate, you can do so via the GOOP Movember team page.

Featured sites

New website – Boom Gallery

Boom Gallery is Geelong’s contemporary art gallery, filled with a modern and eclectic mix of artwork from both established and up-and-coming artists. Located in a historic woollen mill, the gallery is a hive of creative activity and events, featuring a design studio, extensive gallery displays, charming cafe and spacious workshop.

GOOP created a responsive WordPress site for Boom Gallery, filled with stunning images to showcase current and past exhibitions. Visitors can also buy jewellery and ceramics online, as well as sign up to a range of classes and events from their desktop, tablet or mobile.

Upgraded website – White Fisheries

If you’re looking for premium fresh fish, shellfish and seafood across the Bellarine Peninsula, White Fisheries have been the local expert for more than 30 years. Retail and wholesale customers, restaurants and cafes can choose from a huge range of freshly caught local fish and imported delicacies, featuring everything from oysters to octopus. GOOP upgraded White Fisheries’ website with a fresh and modern look, designed to appeal to visitors whether they’re searching at home or out on the road.

Client benefits

This month at GOOP the focus has been on password safety. As time goes on, it’s becoming more important to have a complex and complicated password to safeguard against hackers. We’ve been performing a password audit for all our clients and helping them upgrade to more complex passwords.
